Plan Management
The plan management module is a core module of the Factonomy BCM system providing the business with an ability to define and capture the data required to understand and present its business continuity profile both internally and to regulatory authorities all over the world.
This module offers far greater power than simple document based systems or tools such as Word and Excel. The overriding advantage of our data centric system is that information can be captured once and used many times. For example, data entered about critical staff required to perform a function can feed a local business continuity report whilst also feeding divisional or regional risk dashboards. Equally, information captured about a specific site or location can be fed into every document that references it.
By capturing everything through simple easy to use wizard interfaces the workload on the business is radically reduced resulting in greater acceptance of the system from users and higher levels of compliance with existing business policies.
The addition of mobile capabilities can ensure that all members of staff have immediate access to information in a crisis that includes details on recovery locations and activities specific to their roles and may (optionally) include first response information including hazard sheets and first aid guides.
The module’s full integration with enterprise systems can detect daily changes in organizational structure including the automatic detection of movers and leavers or issues that may have gone unnoticed in the decommissioning of an IT or other asset. Alerts raised through integration can be routed by email to appropriate stakeholders for resolution and reported in dashboards to allow governance and oversight.
Primary reasons to implement a comprehensive Business Continuity Planning Process:
Business continuity planning involves the creation and maintenance of written, comprehensive plans that address all the critical operations and functions of the business. The solution selected must support the business-wide documentation and testing of procedures, which, if followed, will ensure the ongoing availability of critical resources and continuity of operations.
The probability of a disaster occurring in an organization is highly uncertain. Detailed, centralized and up-to-date BCM data can reduce risk and provide comfort that, should a major catastrophe occur, it will not result in financial or reputational disaster.
The business case for BCM can include:
- Minimizing potential economic loss;
- Decreasing potential exposures;
- Reducing the probability of occurrence;
- Reducing disruptions to operations;
- Ensuring organizational stability;
- Providing an orderly recovery;
- Minimizing insurance premiums;
- Reducing reliance on certain key individuals;
- Protecting the assets of the organization;
- Ensuring the safety of personnel and customers;
- Minimizing decision-making during a disastrous event;
- Minimizing legal liability.
