What specialist hardware or software is required to host the Framework?
The Factonomy Framework doesn’t require any specialist hardware and can be hosted on standard Microsoft Servers (2003 or above).
For larger applications, you may consider a clustered pair of high specification 4 processor Windows 2003 servers to serve the application and a further pair of 2 processor servers running Microsoft SQL.
Depending on the criticality of the applications being developed in the Framework, it can be desirable that an additional server capacity be made available preferably at a second location in order to provide for fault tolerance and disaster recovery.
Where applications must be inside the firewall with the requirement to expose some of the system capabilities to ‘outside’ users (partners, parents, etc.) an additional single processor server in the DMZ beyond the firewall will be desirable.
