Common Features
Although it is possible to build a BCM solution to suit your organization’s unique needs by attaching and configuring different BCM modules, some features are common across the entire solution and are present no matter how the other parts are selected.
These core features include:-
Configurable Parameters
This includes the look and feel of the product, corporate branding, specific questions, processes and reports – all configured to meet your organization’s specific requirements
All document templates will carry the same corporate branding and can be configured to match existing house styles.
This is essential in order to ensure that the results of the investment in BCM tools are relevant to your organization, and accurately deliver against your unique business requirements.
Management Information & Reporting
Integrated reporting and management dashboard tools to provide very powerful, almost limitless, reporting capabilities directly within the browser based application.
Reports and dashboards can be generated on every aspect of the product.
Policy, Business Rules and Workflow
Extremely powerful hierarchical mechanism exist throughout the solution to define business rules at any point in a number of different hierarchies. Factonomy can provide many default rules that an organization will find valuable, however these need be replaced and there is no limit on the number of rules that can be added.
Third Party Plug-Ins
Factonomy BCM can integrate with many well known reporting tools (e.g. Crystal Reports and Cognos BI). It is also possible to use the integration capabilities of the underlying Factonomy XT™ technology to push data to in-house data warehouse applications.
Mobile
When used in conjunction with Factonomy BCM Mobile, relevant reports and charts can be delivered directly to managers’ mobile devices for off-line consideration and comment. Business Continuity Stakeholders can have plans and planning data delivered and stored on mobile devices for use at times of invocation. All staff can be in possession of life saving first response information.
Integration
Factonomy BCM does not demand changes from your IT organization in order to be efficiently integrated. Common points of integration for Factonomy BCM include enterprise applications such as HR, IT Asset management, Manufacturing, Facility Management, etc.
The system is built on top of the Factonomy XT™ architecture, and integrates with your organization’s existing data sources. Types of integration includes various flavours of service orientated architectures as well as older legacy systems which require simple CSV or XML file exchanges.
Write once – use often
A key feature of the Factonomy BCM solution is the ability to create and assemble comprehensive documentation. This feature is used throughout the DR Planning module to ensure the capture and re-use of best-practice testing. Document fragments can be created and maintained by subject matter experts and then incorporated many times into different plan documents.
